Oakland couple's Vegas vacation ruined by hotel ceiling leak. Here's how 7 On Your Side helped

Oakland, CALocal News

Alexander Pitt and Meghan Waters faced a nightmarish experience during their two-night stay at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas when their room's ceiling began to leak water. The couple believed the leaking water was raw sewage, which they later learned was not the case. After several attempts to communicate with hotel management were ignored, they reached out to 7 On Your Side for assistance. The hotel's senior vice president contacted the couple following the intervention, issuing a full refund and compensation for Waters' damaged makeup. In an email, the hotel expressed embarrassment over their staff's handling of the situation and assured the couple that the leak stemmed from a cracked clean water pipe.

They also offered a complimentary two-night stay to the couple for a future visit, although they were hesitant to accept. The Golden Nugget stated that the discolored water resulted from dirt and dust mixed in as it traveled through the walls. To prevent such incidents in the future, the hotel committed to retraining their customer service staff.
