Seawolf shuttering soon, auctioning off memorabilia and more

Oakland, CALocal News

Sea Wolf Public House, a beloved venue in Oakland's Jack London Square, will close permanently on July 19 after nearly nine years of operation. Owners Monica Plazola and Wilson Mendez cited lease expiration and financial challenges as reasons for the closure. The pub has hosted numerous community events and will hold its final trivia night on July 16, culminating in a comedy show on the closing day. To address outstanding debts, a silent auction on July 12 will offer items like a pool table, shuffleboard table, and art. Plazola expressed heartfelt appreciation for the community's support, stating, "It's really hard to close the doors, but we have to say goodbye.

" Sea Wolf opened on February 14, 2017, and has become known for its extensive drink selection and diverse food menu. The closure highlights the challenges faced by local businesses in maintaining operations amidst rising costs and competition. As the community bids farewell, many will remember the pub as a gathering place filled with camaraderie and good food.
