Mayor proclaims November 14 as Arbor Day, community celebrates with planting event
On November 14, 2025, North Bend Mayor Miller officially proclaimed Arbor Day, celebrating the vital role of trees in the city's character. The community gathered for a habitat restoration event led by the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust, planting various native species along the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River. Principal Planner Mike McCarty provided insights into the city's collaboration with the Trust and the ecological benefits of native planting. The Arbor Day Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to environmental education, has honored North Bend as a “Tree City USA” for 14 years, recognizing its commitment to urban forestry. This status signifies a long-term dedication to maintaining healthy green spaces and promoting biodiversity.
The Arbor Day celebration not only enhances local parks but also fosters community involvement in environmental initiatives. The event underscores the importance of preserving natural habitats and the cultural significance of trees in North Bend. By participating in such events, residents contribute to the sustainability and beauty of their surroundings.
