Foundation submitted voter registration applications with fake IDs, charges say
Lorraine Lee Combs and Ronnie Williams face federal charges for submitting hundreds of fake voter registration applications in Minnesota. The couple allegedly filled out approximately 500 applications using fictitious names and personal information and sold them to a foundation involved in a voter registration campaign. Combs described herself as a third party who was unaware of the foundation’s identity or the payment she received. The Minnesota Secretary of State's Office confirmed that no ballots were cast as a result of these fraudulent applications. The couple certified that they understood providing false information was a felony, punishable by up to five years in prison.
Combs's court appearance is scheduled for June 24, while Williams is due in court the following Monday. The U. S. Attorney’s Office has not disclosed further details about the investigation. Secretary of State Steve Simon has defended the integrity of Minnesota's election system amid claims of widespread fraud.
