Minneapolis Textile Center opens secondhand shop, the Stashery
The Textile Center in Minneapolis has opened the Stashery, a secondhand shop offering budget-friendly supplies for fiber artists. Customers like Molly Friesen appreciate the relaxed atmosphere compared to the center's crowded garage sales. The shop arose from the center's successful garage sales, which collected a significant volume of donated materials. Erin Husted noted that while other local shops exist, the Stashery provides a more affordable option for beginners and eco-conscious crafters. Proceeds from the shop will be used to enhance the center's educational programs in fiber arts.
The Textile Center is recognized as a key community hub for various fiber arts, including quilting and knitting. The Stashery aims to foster sustainability by encouraging customers to donate their unused materials in the future. This initiative not only supports local artists but also promotes eco-friendly practices within the crafting community.
