Lagniappe and Du Nord Cocktail Room closing May 31

Minneapolis, MNLocal News

Lagniappe and Du Nord Cocktail Room will close on May 31 after struggling to find success since their opening in September 2024. Owners Shanelle and Chris Montana faced significant challenges in rebuilding their Lake Street location amid the pandemic and local unrest. They reaffirmed their commitment to the community, noting that Du Nord products will continue to be available in liquor stores. In a positive development for the area, the new Asia Village food court in Blaine will feature 85°C Bakery & Cafe and Pho Mai, with a planned opening in early 2026. Asia Village aims to replicate the success of Eden Prairie’s Asia Mall, which has seen great popularity with its diverse food offerings.

The development's owner announced that the building is 90% leased, signaling strong interest in the location. Additionally, the Montanas are organizing Krewe Du Nord, a music festival scheduled for June 21, to honor the spirit of New Orleans. Groundswell, a beloved St. Paul cafe, remains closed following a fire on May 21, although all occupants were safely evacuated.
