Puppy thief turned murderer learns fate from Twin Cities judge for both crimes

Minneapolis, MNLocal News

Jahon Ronnell Lynch, 20, was sentenced to 15⅔ years in prison for second-degree murder, attempted murder, and first-degree robbery. The judge's ruling followed Lynch's guilty plea related to the fatal shooting of Antonio Vernon Harper, which occurred in November 2023. Surveillance footage documented Lynch and two accomplices attacking Harper, who was shot as he attempted to flee. Prior to this incident, Lynch executed a home invasion in Golden Valley, stealing items valued at over $100,000, including a sports car and eight puppies. The car was recovered shortly after the theft, while one puppy was reunited with its mother.

Lynch's expected prison term is nearly 9½ years, after which he will be on supervised release. The case highlights ongoing gang violence in Minneapolis and raises concerns about community safety. Investigators are still searching for information regarding the remaining stolen puppies.
