Officials ID 14-year-old boy fatally shot near Federal Reserve in Minneapolis

Minneapolis, MNLocal News

Thor William Wagaman Walsh, a 14-year-old from Minneapolis, was shot multiple times on Monday night near the Federal Reserve Bank and was pronounced dead within 20 minutes at HCMC. Officers arrived on the scene shortly after 9 p. m. to find Walsh suffering from gunshot wounds. A fight involving a group of teenagers escalated, leading to one of them pulling out a gun and shooting Walsh.

As of Thursday, there have been no arrests related to the case. Police Chief Brian O’Hara noted the heartbreaking consequences of youth access to firearms, indicating that Walsh had previously been the victim of a shooting and was recently a suspect in another incident. His death adds to a troubling trend, as it is one of nine homicides in Minneapolis over the past 1½ weeks, including four suspected gang-related killings. The city grapples with rising youth violence and gun-related incidents. Community leaders are urged to address the underlying issues contributing to such tragedies.
