St. Paul man charged in killing of mother of 2-year-old child in Frogtown home

Minneapolis, MNLocal News

Joseph Davis, 34, was charged with second-degree murder on Monday following the fatal stabbing of the mother of his 2-year-old daughter in St. Paul. Officers responded to a welfare check at his residence, where they found the woman dead in an upstairs bedroom with multiple stab wounds. According to the criminal complaint, Davis sent messages to the victim the night before, expressing jealousy and accusing her of cheating. After the incident, he left a message for another woman, indicating he wanted to see his other children before turning himself in.

Davis was arrested in Minneapolis after he initially refused to exit his apartment. He has a documented history of domestic violence against the same victim, which raises further concerns about the dynamics of their relationship. An autopsy confirmed the woman’s death was a homicide, marking St. Paul’s third homicide of 2025. The case underscores ongoing issues with domestic violence and its tragic consequences.
