A serious shooting incident unfolded in downtown Minneapolis on Friday evening, leaving a motorist critically injured. The gunfire erupted around 6:30 p. m. near the intersection of 5th Avenue and S. 9th Street, where the driver, reportedly in his 20s, was struck.

Despite his injuries, he managed to drive a few blocks before crashing into a family’s vehicle at 3rd Avenue and S. 9th Street. Upon arrival, emergency responders found him slumped over in his car with at least one potentially life-threatening wound. He was quickly taken to HCMC for urgent medical care, but his current condition and identity have not been made public. Fortunately, the family in the other vehicle, which included a mother, father, and several children, escaped without injuries.

As of Saturday, no arrests have been made, and police have not provided further details about the shooting, including any potential motives. This incident raises concerns about public safety in urban areas, especially as gun violence continues to be a pressing issue nationwide.
