2 accomplices admit luring drug dealer into deadly trap at Minneapolis riverfront apartments
Two men, Jayce Nasir Cuff and Darnail Arnez LaBrec, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the fatal shooting of drug dealer Davione Daunte Charles Collins in Minneapolis on April 19. The attack occurred at the Peregrine Apartments, where Collins' vehicle crashed into a garage door after being shot. Cuff's plea agreement includes a 16¼-year prison sentence, while LaBrec faces 13¾ years. Evidence found at the scene included marijuana packaged for sale and surveillance footage showing the shooting. Police Chief Brian O’Hara condemned the attack, highlighting the disregard for human life in a populated area.
Cuff and LaBrec both have extensive criminal backgrounds, including prior violent crimes and firearm offenses. Cassius Duane Hodrick, 16, is also charged with aiding and abetting the murder. The case underscores ongoing concerns about gun violence and drug-related crime in Minneapolis.
