A chain-reaction crash involving two SUVs and a moving train occurred early Wednesday in northeast Minneapolis, critically injuring one driver. The incident took place around 2:30 a. m. at a rail crossing located near Columbia Parkway and Central Avenue NE. , which is equipped with crossing arms and flashing lights.

The driver of a stopped Cadillac Escalade was struck from behind by a Toyota Rav4, resulting in both SUVs being pushed into the train's path. Emergency responders rushed the male driver of the Rav4 to HCMC with life-threatening injuries, while the female driver of the Escalade was hospitalized with non-critical injuries. Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, including the potential role of intoxication. The collision highlights ongoing concerns about rail safety and driver awareness at crossings, particularly in urban areas. A spokesperson for Canadian Pacific Kansas City confirmed that no one aboard the train was injured.
