Jury convicts man of 2013 rape in Minneapolis park
Mohamud Hillow Bulle, 36, received a guilty verdict for kidnapping and raping a woman in a Minneapolis park in 2013. The case was reopened due to the Minneapolis Sexual Assault Kit Initiative, which aimed to test unexamined sexual assault kits. Bulle's DNA matched evidence collected from the victim, who reported the assault shortly after it happened. Initially, she did not wish to pursue charges, leading to the case being closed. However, after a renewed investigation in 2020, DNA testing connected Bulle to the assault.
He was already serving time for a separate attempted murder charge when the match was made. Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty highlighted the decade-long struggle for justice and expressed her gratitude for the teams involved in the case. Bulle's sentencing is scheduled for November 12, 2025.
