Will Norris, Jane Bareikis win Twin Cities Marathon

Will Norris won the 43rd Twin Cities Marathon on Sunday, finishing in 2 hours, 15 minutes, and 39 seconds, just 25 seconds ahead of Tesfu Tewelde. The marathon spanned 26. 2 miles from downtown Minneapolis to the State Capitol in St. Paul, attracting thousands of runners. Jane Bareikis, 31, took first place in the women’s division, completing the race in 2 hours, 32 minutes, and 52 seconds after recovering from a previous injury.

Norris, a trades apprentice, has experienced both breakthroughs and setbacks in his running journey, including qualifying for the Olympic trials. Rain began falling about two hours into the race, affecting the lead runners as they approached the finish line. Earlier in the day, Yemane Haileselassie won the 10-mile race for men in 46 minutes, 24 seconds. The event featured notable participants, including Governor Tim Walz, who praised the marathon's beauty. Norris hinted at celebrating his victory with his wife, who ran in the 10-mile race, as they have not yet gone on a honeymoon.
