Member of Minneapolis Lows gang pleads guilty to federal fraud, used money mules to steal 220K
Peter Amondo Anderson, a 24-year-old member of the Lows Minneapolis street gang, pleaded guilty to his involvement in a fraud scheme that stole approximately $220,000. The fraudulent operations spanned from April 2019 to January 2024 and involved conspiracy to commit bank fraud and aggravated identity theft. Anderson and his accomplices used social media to recruit "money mules," who provided their bank information and deposited fraudulent checks. The gang also targeted innocent civilians, including a 65-year-old man from North Carolina, resulting in losses of $39,000. Anderson's co-defendant, Faysal Mohamed, entered a guilty plea earlier this year, highlighting the ongoing legal repercussions for gang members.
Federal prosecutors are actively pursuing a case against 14 Lows members facing serious charges, including murder and drug trafficking. Acting U. S. Attorney Joe Thompson asserted the commitment to using federal resources to tackle gang-related fraud and violence. The case underscores the intersection of violent crime and financial fraud within organized crime networks.
