Charlie Kirk remembered as the Republican voice of a generation as U plans to host sold-out event
Charlie Kirk, a leading voice in the conservative movement and founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed on September 10 during an event at Utah Valley University. Minnesota state Rep. Elliott Engen, who founded Hamline University’s Turning Point chapter, plans to continue Kirk's legacy at a sold-out event at the University of Minnesota. Engen, inspired by Kirk's ability to engage in political dialogue, noted that Kirk encouraged young conservatives to voice their beliefs. He emphasized that Kirk's influence was felt even in his own political journey, leading to Engen's election as the first Gen Z Republican in the Minnesota Legislature.
Thousands attended Kirk's memorial, including former President Donald Trump, underscoring his significant impact within the MAGA movement. Engen recalled his meetings with Kirk, highlighting his genuine interest in the next generation of leaders. He urged attendees of the upcoming event to engage in political discussions and carry on Kirk's message. As Engen stated, "a single bullet can't kill a movement," reinforcing the idea that Kirk's legacy will endure through their continued activism.
