Early voting in Minneapolis and St. Paul elections begins Friday

Early voting for the Minneapolis and St. Paul municipal elections begins Friday at 8 a. m. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey faces a competitive field, including state Sen. Omar Fateh, who has garnered support from progressive City Council members.

In St. Paul, Mayor Melvin Carter's most significant challenger is state Rep. Kaohly Vang Her, who aims to unseat the incumbent. Voters will also elect all 13 City Council members, influencing the council’s ideological balance, and will select representatives for the Park and Recreation Board and the Board of Estimate and Taxation. St.

Paul residents will additionally address two ballot questions that may impact local governance. The Minneapolis Elections & Voter Services Building will remain open for early voting until 4:30 p. m. , with plans to extend hours, including weekends, starting mid-October. This election cycle is pivotal, as it could reshape the leadership landscape in both cities.

As community engagement increases, voters are encouraged to familiarize themselves with polling locations ahead of Election Day on November 4.
