Minneapolis, MNLocal News

A series of mass shootings in Minneapolis along Lake Street resulted in two fatalities: Adam John Peterson, 46, and Jacinda Oakgrove, 30. Peterson was shot near E. Lake Street and Stevens Avenue S. on Monday morning and died in the hospital days later, marking the first death from the violence. Oakgrove was critically wounded in a separate shooting at a private encampment and succumbed to her injuries three days later.

In total, the shootings left a dozen people injured, highlighting ongoing public safety issues in the area. Law enforcement has intensified patrols in the neighborhood, which has a long-standing reputation for violence and drug-related activities. City officials have pushed to dismantle the encampment, citing it as a public health nuisance. Prominent landlord Hamoudi Sabri, who established the encampment, has vowed to contest the city's efforts legally. The incidents underscore the urgent need for effective crime prevention strategies in the community.
