Carjacker fleeing officers hits car, kills two completely innocent people, Minneapolis police say

A carjacker in Minneapolis killed two women and injured others during a violent spree on Thursday morning. The suspect, Troy Mike Payton, 45, carjacked a sedan and fired his weapon while fleeing police, leading to a deadly crash that took the lives of Marisa Ardys Casebolt and Liberty Borg, both 25. A 6-year-old boy in the vehicle sustained noncritical injuries. Police Chief Brian O’Hara described the incident as devastating for innocent victims, stating it endangered many lives in a short time. Witness Sarah Quast recounted her harrowing escape, fearing for her life as the gunman approached her vehicle.

The police received multiple reports of the suspect driving recklessly, swerving into oncoming traffic and sidewalks. The violent spree began shortly after 8 a. m. on E. Lake Street and ended with the collision at a North Side intersection about 30 minutes later.
