A 26-year-old woman, Kitanna Fawn Crowell, faces first-degree assault charges for critically injuring a 79-year-old woman with gunfire during a car chase in south Minneapolis. The victim was shot in her home while preparing food and underwent extensive surgery but has since been released from the hospital, with her partner noting she is expected to recover. Crowell allegedly fired the shot from a passenger seat in an SUV driven by Jamaul Wendel Graham, 52, who also faces charges related to illegal gun possession. Police interviewed several witnesses who reported seeing two SUVs racing before the gunfire erupted. Officers arrested Crowell and Graham two days later at Maplewood Mall, recovering a loaded handgun that matched the bullet removed from the victim.

Chief Brian O’Hara expressed gratitude for the arrests, highlighting the disturbing nature of violence impacting innocent residents, especially the elderly. The shooting has left the victim and her partner feeling unsafe in their neighborhood, which they believe has been declining in safety in recent years. Osthus stated that their awareness of their surroundings has increased due to the incident.
