Man found fatally shot in Minneapolis as July 4 drew to a close
Minneapolis recorded its second homicide on July 4, with two men in their 20s shot in separate incidents. The first shooting occurred around 2:35 a. m. on Dupont Avenue N. , and the second at 11:20 p.
m. on Bloomington Avenue. Both victims were transported to hospitals but succumbed to their injuries, with police yet to release their identities. No arrests have been made, and authorities are actively seeking information from the public to aid the investigations. Police Chief Brian O'Hara emphasized the importance of community assistance, stating, “Someone knows what happened to this man.
” In contrast to previous years, the city reported fewer incidents involving reckless fireworks, attributed to enhanced law enforcement efforts. This year, Minneapolis has seen 29 homicides, a decrease from 35 last year. The police plan to maintain a heightened presence throughout the weekend to ensure public safety.
