Minnesotas Catholic schools are thriving with the help of a nonprofit
Minnesota's Catholic schools have seen a 13. 5% enrollment increase, reaching 22,694 students, thanks to the support of the Catholic Schools Center of Excellence (CSCOE). Launched by Best Buy founder Richard Schulze, CSCOE provides over 100 annual grants and free resources to enhance educational quality in Catholic schools statewide. Principals like Adam Groebner of St. Therese Catholic School emphasize how CSCOE has transformed their institutions, enabling them to pursue ambitious goals.
The Believe and Read program, implemented by CSCOE, trains teachers in phonics-based literacy instruction, aligning with Minnesota's Read Act. Tricia Menzhuber, principal of St. John Paul II Catholic School, noted her school's enrollment nearly doubled since 2018, highlighting CSCOE's role in attracting students. The foundation's $25 million commitment has significantly impacted literacy and social-emotional learning initiatives across the state. Additionally, CSCOE's marketing strategies have helped schools increase visibility within their communities.
As Catholic education thrives in Minnesota, the ongoing support from CSCOE remains crucial for future success.
