Cross-country travelers passing through Minnesota pull off life-saving Mississippi River rescue

On Monday, Dustin Colson-Leaning and Brittany Pashkow, a couple traveling from the East Coast, rescued a driver whose vehicle rolled into the Mississippi River near Dresbach, Minnesota. The incident occurred around noon when the driver experienced a medical emergency while driving on I-90, causing the vehicle to plunge down an embankment. Witnessing the event, Colson-Leaning jumped into the water while Pashkow called 911 for help. Sheriff Ron Ganrude praised their swift actions, emphasizing that they likely saved the man's life. Emergency responders transported the 37-year-old driver from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to a hospital in La Crosse for treatment.

The couple's wedding is scheduled for next month, adding a positive note to their cross-country journey. Ganrude's remarks highlighted the couple's commendable character, stating they exemplify "good people. " Their actions underscore the importance of quick thinking in emergency situations.
