Car goes off SR 599 overpass after deadly crash, lands on I-5 in Tukwila

A tragic crash on the SR 599/Interurban Avenue overpass in Tukwila resulted in one fatality and several injuries when a car fell onto the northbound lanes of I-5. The Washington State Patrol reported that one individual died at the scene, while another sustained serious injuries, and four others experienced minor injuries. Trooper Rick Johnson stated that the individual who was ejected from the vehicle fled the scene but was apprehended minutes later and is now facing felony hit-and-run charges. This incident not only highlights the dangers associated with reckless driving but also raised concerns about road safety in the area. Traffic was significantly disrupted, with multiple northbound lanes of I-5 blocked during the incident.

Around 3:30 p. m. , all lanes were reopened as crews cleared the scene. The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek to determine the factors leading to this tragic event. Local residents are urged to remain vigilant about highway safety.
