King County Promotes Holiday Light Recycling and Federal Loans for Storm Recovery

Mercer Island, WALocal News

King County is promoting a holiday light recycling program, urging residents to recycle their used holiday lights instead of discarding them. This initiative aims to reclaim copper wire from the lights, contributing positively to local environmental sustainability efforts. In addition, the county is addressing community needs following the bomb cyclone that struck between November 17 and 25, causing significant damage. To assist affected homeowners and businesses, the US Small Business Administration is offering low-interest federal loans to cover disaster losses not fully compensated by insurance. Residents can apply for these loans online or receive face-to-face assistance at designated Disaster Loan Outreach Centers starting January 6.

This proactive approach underscores King County's dedication to both environmental stewardship and community recovery efforts, encouraging residents to take advantage of these resources during challenging times.
