Marysville Police serve as Guardians of the Flame during Law Enforcement Torch Run
During the 2021 Law Enforcement Torch Run on August 25, Marysville police officers carried the "Flame of Hope" over eight miles to support the Special Olympics. This event, part of a nationwide initiative, features more than 97,000 law enforcement members promoting courage and diversity. The Torch Run serves as a vital fundraising effort, aiming to raise awareness and donations for athletes with intellectual disabilities. In previous years, the event has garnered significant community support, highlighting the importance of local involvement in such initiatives. Donations for the Marysville Police Department's fundraising efforts are still accepted online.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run not only raises funds but also fosters a sense of community among participants and supporters. By participating, MPD officers reinforce their role as community guardians, extending their commitment beyond traditional law enforcement duties. This event underscores the department's dedication to inclusive sports and the values of the Special Olympics movement.
