MPD Officer works to end animal suffering with new training program
The Marysville Police Department has implemented an Animal Cruelty Investigation Training program to address the issue of animal cruelty within the community. Officer Dave Vasconi stated that the program aims to rescue animals from harmful situations and provide them with necessary medical care. Since its launch in September, nearly 70 agencies have enrolled, resulting in over 460 officers receiving training. The program has led to an increase in animal rescues and accountability for offenders. Pasado's Safe Haven's Director of Investigations expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts that made the training successful.
The Community Service Unit, which includes a reserve officer specializing in animal crime investigations, responds to numerous cruelty complaints each year. This initiative highlights the importance of community involvement in safeguarding animal welfare. Residents are urged to report any suspected animal cruelty cases by calling 911 immediately.
