Lynnwood celebrates Juneteenth at annual Freedom Day festival

Lynnwood celebrated Juneteenth at Cedar Valley Community School, bringing together hundreds of community members for a day of food and festivities. Organized by Project Girl Mentoring Group, the event received support from the City of Lynnwood and local organizations. Emcee DanVonique Bletson-Reed introduced keynote speaker Wil Johnson, who highlighted the significance of Juneteenth in promoting equity. Mayor Christine Frizzell, alongside city council members, read the official city proclamation, marking the occasion. Attendees enjoyed various vendor booths, a health resource fair, and live performances, including local artist Peyton Redwood.

The Double Dutch Divas showcased the art of jump-roping, promoting health and activity within the community. The Edmonds Food Bank offered a mobile pantry, allowing attendees to support those in need. This celebration not only honored history but also fostered connections and resources within Lynnwood.
