Do it for your neighbors South County Fire launches campaign reminding community of impacts from fireworks

Lynnwood, WALocal News

South County Fire launched a campaign to remind residents about the detrimental effects of fireworks on the community, particularly on veterans, pets, and first responders. Outreach Manager Shawneri Guzman highlighted that many individuals feel unsafe and scared to leave their homes due to fireworks on the Fourth of July. Fireworks are prohibited in South County Fire's service area, encompassing cities like Brier, Edmonds, and Mill Creek. The campaign includes ads on local radio and social media to raise awareness about the dangers and legalities surrounding fireworks. To further promote the message, South County Fire will distribute free "Fireworks Illegal" yard signs at select fire stations from June 23 to June 28.

This initiative aims to foster a safer environment during the holiday when emergency calls significantly increase. The fire department encourages the community to consider the impacts of fireworks on their neighbors and local responders. For more information on banned areas and professional fireworks shows, residents can visit South County Fire's website.
