Nearly a year later, still no turn lane on 200th ST SW and Highway 99

Lynnwood, WALocal News

A right-hand turn lane project at the intersection of 200th Street Southwest and Highway 99 in Lynnwood has been postponed due to a conflict with an underground water main. City staff confirmed that the project, linked to the Harris Ford dealership expansion approved by the city council in 2022, was initially expected to wrap up by the end of 2024. The water main was found to be too high for the planned lane depth when the contractor conducted a "pothole" investigation. Charlie Palmer, the city’s development engineering services manager, noted that moving the utility is feasible but requires careful planning. The city is collaborating with the dealership to resolve the water main issue, but a new completion date is not yet available.

The turn lane will still be located as originally intended, pending the necessary utility adjustments. This project traces back to a design review permit application made by Harris Ford in October 2021, which included plans for a new Lincoln automobile showroom. The Lynnwood City Council agreed to sell the road portion to the dealership for approximately $576,000, significantly less than its 2022 valuation of $1. 4 million.
