Edmond College faculty member Lori Hays receives Faculty of the Year award

Lori Hays, a dedicated biology faculty member at Edmonds College, received the Faculty of the Year award for 2024-25 from the Washington State Association of College Trustees. This prestigious award is given annually to one faculty member from Washington's 34-college system, recognizing their contributions to community and technical education. Edmonds College President Amit B. Singh highlighted Hays's commitment to a student-centered teaching approach and her innovative solutions that foster student success. Hays began her career at Edmonds College in 2008 as an associate faculty member before becoming a full-time faculty member in 2020.

She utilizes an interactive teaching style that incorporates technology to engage students. In addition to her teaching, she advises students on health care and biology careers and serves as the faculty advisor for the Student Nurses and Pre-med+ program. In October, Hays played a key role in establishing a new Healthcare Transfer Center on campus, designed to help students prepare for health care professional programs. Her work demonstrates a strong commitment to enhancing student learning and success.
