Prep boys basketball Win over Shorewood sends Warriors into District championship Saturday

The Edmonds-Woodway Warriors secured a commanding 67-37 victory over the Shorewood Stormrays in the 3A District 1 semifinals, marking their first state tournament berth since 2017. The game showcased Dartmouth-bound senior Cam Hiatt, who scored an impressive 34 points, showcasing his skills and leadership on the court. After falling behind early, the Warriors executed a crucial 10-0 run in the second quarter, turning the tide of the game. Hiatt's half-court buzzer-beater at halftime helped the Warriors establish a commanding 30-20 lead. In the second half, Edmonds-Woodway continued to pull away, leading by as much as 36 points.

They now advance to the District Championship game against Monroe, who recently upset Shorecrest. Meanwhile, Shorewood faces a do-or-die matchup against Sedro-Woolley, where a win is necessary to keep their state tournament hopes alive. This semifinal game highlighted the competitive spirit of local high school basketball and the potential for further thrilling matchups ahead.
