Laura Eichert, the junior outside hitter for Lake Stevens volleyball, has been recognized as The Herald's 2024 Volleyball Player of the Year for her outstanding contributions on the court. Her leadership was evident during the state semifinal match against Curtis, where she motivated her teammates with an inspiring speech despite their loss. Throughout the playoffs, Eichert averaged 31. 3 kills, 13 digs, and 1. 8 blocks per game, culminating in her MVP award for the 4A tournament.

With a total of 746 kills, she led Washington state in this category, showcasing her exceptional talent and determination. Eichert's skill set, which includes hitting tough shots and strategic gameplay, has attracted attention from collegiate programs, leading her to commit to the University of San Diego. As her senior season approaches, she remains focused on her goal of winning a state title, a sentiment echoed by her teammates and coach.
