9K remain without power in Snohomish, Island counties

On Monday, a storm system swept through Snohomish County, causing significant power outages for over 20,000 PUD customers, with Arlington and Camano Island being the hardest-hit areas. Gusty winds led to numerous downed trees and power lines, resulting in extensive outages. As of 4 p. m. , around 9,000 customers were still without power, underscoring the storm's impact.

PUD spokesperson Aaron Swaney confirmed that the storm met forecasts, with peak wind gusts recorded at 48 mph. Additionally, a winter storm warning is in effect for the North Cascades, where snow accumulations could reach 18 inches. As the storm subsides, residents can expect drier conditions and mostly sunny weather ahead, providing relief after this challenging weather event.
