Lynnwood Council Nov. 3 to discuss farmers market, property tax levy amount
Lynnwood City Council is set to meet on Nov. 3 to discuss a payment increase for contracted prosecuting attorneys and a proposal for a permanent farmers market at the light rail station. The council will consider increasing the monthly payment to Zachor, Stock & Krepps from $56,040 to $67,468 to accommodate rising caseloads. This increase is necessary due to the launch of a body-worn camera program and the anticipated opening of a second courtroom in June 2025. A new farmers market at the City Center light rail station is proposed to enhance local economic activity and support vendors.
The council will also conduct a mid-biennial budget review, which includes unanticipated modifications totaling $351,100. Additionally, they will review the 2026 property tax levy, which could lead to an estimated annual tax increase of $209 for the average home. The city currently has $3. 85 million in banked capacity available for potential tax levies. Public hearings for these discussions are scheduled for Nov.
10, allowing community input on the proposed changes.
