A matching campaign has been launched by an anonymous donor to benefit My Neighborhood News Network, offering up to $5,000 in donations through Oct. 31. This initiative aligns with the screening of "Stripped for Parts" at the Edmonds Theater on Oct. 25, focusing on the challenges faced by local journalism. The documentary reveals how hedge funds have contributed to the closure of 2,000 newspapers over the past two decades, leading to news deserts across the U.

S. After the film, a panel discussion will include local media experts such as Jody Brannon and Alex Bruell. Teresa Wippel, President and CEO of MNNN, emphasized the importance of community support in maintaining trustworthy local news. Tickets are priced at $25, with all additional donations matched until the end of October. The event is co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Snohomish County, further highlighting its community significance.

The Edmonds Theater is located at 415 Main St. in Edmonds.
