Lynnwood candidates face off at Candidate Conversations event

Candidates for Lynnwood City Council and mayor discussed their policies during a Candidate Conversations event on Oct. 8, hosted by Lynnwood Today and Se Habla Media. About 50 community members attended, providing an opportunity for voters to question candidates about pressing local issues. Candidates in attendance included Isabel Mata, Josh Binda, Robert Leutwyler, Mpiima Mugambe, Christine Frizzell, and George Hurst. Notably absent were incumbents Derica Escamilla and Ki Seung Cho, as well as other candidates for various positions.

Local high school students Scarlett Luo and Ismail Elbiary, representing the Edmonds School District’s Superintendent Student Advisory Committee, focused on questions about youth issues. The discussion highlighted the importance of engaging younger voters in local governance. Attendees expressed interest in candidates' approaches to local challenges, emphasizing the community's active role in the electoral process.
