Lynnwood Costumes with a Cop draws a crowd

Lynnwood, WALocal News

The Lynnwood Police Department and the Family Peace Association successfully hosted the Costumes with a Cop event, distributing over 350 free Halloween costumes to local children on Saturday. This initiative began in 2020 when Victim Services Coordinator Tiffany Krusey approached then-Police Chief Jim Nelson to propose a costume giveaway, aimed at helping families who might struggle to afford costumes. In its first year, the event provided over 100 handmade or donated costumes, reflecting community involvement. This year saw a considerable increase in participation, showcasing the growing support for the initiative. The program not only enables children to enjoy Halloween but also strengthens community ties with law enforcement.

Real names and city of residence are required for commenters to ensure identity verification. The event underscores the police department's commitment to community service and support for families in need. Such initiatives can enhance public perception of law enforcement while addressing social issues.
