Mary Kurfess Catholic Mass Oct. 6 at St. Pius X

Mary Carmela Kurfess, 95, passed away on September 20, 2025, in San Diego after a brief illness. She was born in upstate New York and spent part of her childhood in Calabria, Italy, during World War II. Mary married Francis Anton Kurfess in 1956 and raised four children while being deeply involved in her local Catholic community. She actively participated in church activities, including leading rosaries and serving as a Eucharist Minister. Mary is survived by her children, nine grandchildren, and one brother, along with many nieces and nephews.

A mass to celebrate her life is scheduled for October 6, 2025, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Mountlake Terrace, WA, preceded by a rosary. Following the mass, a graveside service will take place at Holyrood Cemetery. Donations in her memory can be made to the Padre Pio Foundation of America, reflecting her lifelong commitment to her faith and family.
