Former Swedish Edmonds executive Sarah Zabel appointed interim superintendent at Verdant

Lynnwood, WALocal News

The Verdant Health Commission Board has appointed Sarah Zabel as its interim Superintendent, taking over from Lisa Edwards, who announced her resignation earlier this month. Zabel, who has served as an independent consultant since 2021, previously held the position of chief operating officer at Swedish Edmonds from 2016 to 2020. The board made this decision during its regularly scheduled monthly meeting, where they also expressed appreciation for Edwards' five years of dedicated service. Board President Karianna Wilson highlighted Edwards' efforts to enhance Verdant's impact within the community. Verdant will commence a search for a permanent superintendent, partnering with a search firm to be selected at a public meeting in early September.

This change is crucial as Verdant Health, known for its significant community investments, has allocated $87 million to support health programs and services since 2011. The new leadership will play a pivotal role in maintaining and expanding these community health initiatives. The upcoming superintendent search reflects Verdant's commitment to effective leadership in the public health sector.
