Dragon Boat Festival draws hundreds to Edmonds Waterfront Center
The Dragon Boat Festival attracted hundreds to the Edmonds Waterfront Center, celebrating Asian culture with a variety of performances and food. Attendees enjoyed Chinese dancers, Taiko drummers, Lion dancers, and Kung Fu demonstrations, along with the STRUM Ukulele band and a Filipino Elvis impersonator. Event emcee Michael Chong expressed excitement over the overwhelming turnout, stating plans for next year’s festival. Local sponsors, including Beresford-Booth and 1st Security Bank, supported the event's success. Participants also had the opportunity to engage in Dragon boat rides, contributing to the festive atmosphere.
This annual celebration reflects the increasing recognition and appreciation of Asian culture in the community. The event fosters connections among diverse cultural backgrounds, enriching the local social fabric. The Asian Service Center aims to expand the festival further in future years.
