Geving returns as E-W basketball coach Hershey takes on AD role
Tyler Geving resumes his role as the boys basketball head coach for the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors after guiding the team to a remarkable 26-3 record and a state runner-up finish last season. He decided to relinquish his position as athletic coordinator, a role he held while coaching, to comply with Edmonds School District policy, which restricts dual roles. Jennie Hershey, a 1991 graduate and former three-sport athlete at the school, will take over as athletic coordinator, bringing over 25 years of experience in the district. Geving's coaching history includes stints at Portland State University and various assistant roles at local colleges, emphasizing his extensive basketball knowledge. McGuire praised Geving for his dedication to the school community and his contributions to the growth of athletic programs.
The transition is significant as E-W prepares for a new school year starting September 3, with boys' basketball practices commencing on November 17. Hershey’s background includes teaching physical education and coaching girls soccer, making her well-suited for the athletic coordinator role. The community looks forward to continued success in the basketball program under Geving's leadership.
