Co-living housing in Snohomish County? Heres when you can weigh in

Snohomish County is moving to amend its code to allow co-living housing on multifamily residential lots, aligning with state legislation passed during the 2023-24 session. Engrossed Substitute House Bill 1998 requires counties to permit co-living units in urban growth areas by December 31, 2025. These housing units will consist of individual rented spaces with private living areas, while kitchens will be shared among residents. A public hearing is set for 10:30 a. m.

on August 13 at the Robert J. Drewel Building, offering virtual access via Zoom. Local legislators, including Reps. Cindy Ryu and Lauren Davis, played key roles in sponsoring the bill. The city of Edmonds is already considering its compliance with the new requirements.
