Edmonds teen nails champion hat trick at Summer Smash tennis tourney

Luke Madath, a senior at Bishop Blanchet and Edmonds resident, dominated the 10th Annual Snohomish Summer Smash by winning three titles. He first bested Shorewood’s Xander Gordon in the Boys Gold Singles championship match. Following that, Madath teamed up with Peter Kosten, a Shorewood graduate, to clinch the Boys Gold Doubles title. He capped off the day by winning the Mixed Gold Doubles title alongside four-time Wesco District Champion Rylie Gettmann. The tournament, which began in 2015 with just 48 participants, has evolved into one of the largest junior tennis events in Washington, now attracting over 175 competitors from more than 30 schools.
