Transgender woman targeted again after multiple brutal attacks at her Westlake business, police say

Los Angeles, CALocal News

Sabrina de la Peña, a transgender woman, has been repeatedly attacked at her Westlake, Los Angeles convenience store, with the most recent incident occurring on Saturday. The string of assaults began in April when a man sexually assaulted her and threatened to kill her upon discovering her gender identity. Since then, the assailant has returned multiple times with others, committing various hate crimes, including hitting her with a skateboard. The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating and has requested public assistance in identifying the suspects. De la Peña believes the attacks are motivated by the assailants' hatred of transgender individuals, stating, 'I'm gonna kill you' was a repeated threat.

This troubling pattern has left her feeling unsafe for the first time in her nearly 30 years of operating her business.
