The Santa Monica Community Police Academy is preparing to welcome new participants in its upcoming classes, targeting individuals aged 18 and older. Interested candidates can fill out an application or reach out to the Community Affairs Unit for additional details. To qualify, applicants must either live, work, or attend school in Santa Monica and must not have any felony convictions or outstanding arrest warrants. A criminal history check will be conducted to verify the applicant's background and adherence to these requirements. However, the Chief of Police holds the authority to waive certain criteria based on individual circumstances.

This initiative is designed to promote transparency and foster a better relationship between the police force and the community. By engaging citizens in law enforcement practices, the program aims to build trust and encourage active participation in public safety. Such community-oriented programs are essential for creating a collaborative environment that benefits both residents and law enforcement.
