The City of Santa Monica is actively promoting community involvement through its Neighborhood Organization Grant Program, which offers funding up to $7,000 for qualified neighborhood organizations. This program is designed to enhance communication and foster stronger community ties among residents. To be eligible, organizations must represent a recognized neighborhood, have tax-exempt status, and maintain an active board of directors that meets regularly. They are also required to hold at least one general membership meeting each year and keep a membership list of at least 50 active members. The grant funds for the fiscal year 2023-2024 need to be utilized by June 15, 2024, ensuring that organizations can effectively plan their projects within this timeline.

Final closeout reports detailing the use of funds will be due by June 22, 2024. Applications for this grant program are currently available on the City of Santa Monica's website, along with a map of neighborhood boundaries. This initiative reflects the city's commitment to supporting grassroots community efforts and enhancing local governance.
