For Chargers, it’s board games and snacks for extended Carolina stay

Los Angeles, CASports

In a strategic move following their win over the Carolina Panthers, the Los Angeles Chargers, under the leadership of new head coach Jim Harbaugh, have decided to extend their stay in Charlotte for the week. Rather than returning to Los Angeles after the game, the team will practice at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, before heading to Pittsburgh for their next matchup against the Steelers. Harbaugh noted the advantages of this decision, including better adjustment to the eastern time zone and reduced travel fatigue. He mentioned, “People a lot smarter than me have figured out that’s the way to do it,” reflecting the thoughtfulness behind the plan. The players were receptive to the idea, with quarterback Justin Herbert quipping about bringing along board games and snacks for the week.

This approach not only enhances their preparation for the upcoming game but also serves as an opportunity for the team to bond. Team leaders like safety Derwin James Jr. and left tackle Rashawn Slater expressed their support for the arrangement, emphasizing the benefits of recovery and camaraderie. Additionally, there are concerns regarding Herbert's health after he sustained a minor injury during the game, but he managed to finish without significant issues.
