City of West Hollywood Activates Cooling Center Amid Heat Advisory

The City of West Hollywood has announced the activation of its Cooling Center at Plummer Park due to a high heat advisory affecting the region through August 6, 2024. The Cooling Center will be open from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m.

on both days, providing a safe environment for residents to escape the intense heat. Situated at 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard, the center is opened when temperatures exceed 90 degrees. The Cityline service offers free transportation to the Cooling Center, making it accessible for those in need. Officials are urging residents to take precautions during this heat wave, highlighting the risks posed to children and pets left in parked vehicles. Temperatures inside vehicles can skyrocket, reaching dangerous levels within minutes.

Additionally, pet owners are advised to avoid walking their dogs on hot pavement to protect their paws. For further tips on staying cool and information about the Cooling Center, residents are encouraged to visit the City’s website.
