Mayor Bass Welcomes Baywatch and Major Productions Back to Los Angeles
Mayor Karen Bass announced the return of major television productions, including Baywatch, to Los Angeles, marking a triumph for the local entertainment workforce. The state's expanded Film and Television Tax Credit Program will support 17 projects and is expected to generate an economic impact of $1. 2 billion statewide. Bass noted that the return of these productions translates into real job opportunities for the community. Steve Kang, the Mayor’s Liaison to the Film and Television Industry, pledged to streamline city processes to facilitate efficient filming.
Bass emphasized her administration's commitment to maintaining and enhancing local production incentives, which were first established during her tenure as Speaker of the State Assembly. The Mayor's Executive Directives aim to lower costs and improve access to iconic filming locations. Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Chair of the Mayor’s Entertainment Council, echoed the optimism surrounding Southern California's appeal as a filming location. These efforts are designed to strengthen the local production ecosystem and support below-the-line workers.
